WebCT Vista is but one of many options available to facilitate on-line teaching and learning at GCSU. In order of sophistication, those options include:

o The Faculty Web Server. This is a standard web server where web site space is available to all full-time faculty. With this facility, faculty can create and upload web pages that are world-viewable and offer files (documents, slideshow presentations, etc.) for download. The current disk space allocation is 500 MB per faculty person.

o myCats My Courses. This is a secure portal where faculty can communicate with students in classes they teach and share content with those students by offering files for download.

o WebCT Vista. This is a secure portal specifically designed to support instruction with very robust assessment, collaboration, communications and content presentation features coupled with efficient course management tools such as an integrated Grade Book.

Each of these options provides greater power and, consequently, requires more training. In the case of WebCT Vista, GCSU has gone to considerable lengths to provide faculty with training options that are keyed to roles. For example, Course Section Designer/Instructors have fewer powers than Course Designers so require less training.
